Early Childhood Family Education

The mission of District #391 Early Childhood Family Education is to strengthen families and support all parents in providing the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children.

Vision

We seek to establish a nurturing atmosphere where all parents and children can experience positive ways of being together. We encourage and invite all members of the child’s life to be involved as a central focus and support system called family.

Values

We provide a quality ECFE program that provides a curriculum that is multicultural and gender-fair for Parent-Child Interaction, Early Childhood Education, and Parent Education.

Goals

• To support children’s optimal physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development during the important early years of life.
• To promote informed, realistic attitudes and expectations about raising children.
• To increase parent involvement in children’s learning, development, and education.
• To enhance effective communication and healthy parent/child/family relationships.
• To facilitate the development and strengthening of family.

2020-2021 ECFE Program Offerings

FAMILY STAY & PLAY

Classes begin the week of September 14.
Your schedule is dictated by which cohort your family chooses to be in.  Each family will have the opportunity to attend in-person classes one time per month.

This is a non-separating class. Parents and children play and engage in activities for the first half of the class. Everyone joins together for Circle Time and a snack. This class promotes positive growth and development. Learning activities for parents and children. Come to play with other children, socialize with other parents, and learn about various parenting strategies!

If there is an early release due to inclement weather, or if the school is canceled, ECFE is also canceled

ECFE At A Distance

Class opens the week of September 7.
Accessible Any Time

This is BRAND NEW for our ECFE program! Our Google Classroom will be set up, and each week Mrs. Genelin will post new activities for your family to do at home. Packets and supplies will be delivered to your home at the beginning of each month. These activities can be completed on your own time, and at your own pace. Mrs. Genelin will be available to work with you and help guide you through the activities when needed. Virtual story and circle times will be held twice per week at 5:00 p.m. This platform will be great for parents with busy schedules, and will provide families with an abundance of resources for learning activities that can be done at home!

Parents Only!

Tuesday Evenings from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m.
Sessions begin the week of September 15

Sometimes it feels like we get in such a great conversation with other parents at our ECFE class, but can be distracted by the children that are eager to learn and play. These casual meetings will be open discussions, that will occasionally be prompted by a specific parenting topic. Log on to connect with other parents in the area, discuss various topics relevant to your little ones and wind down after a busy day.

Log on to these sessions as frequently as you wish!
