Suffering a pair of non-conference losses, the Clipper B girls fell 44-22 to host Randolph on Tuesday. At New Ulm Cathedral on Friday, the Greyhounds nipped the Clippers by three, 38-35.

On the Cathedral floor, Delaney Thompson scored the first basket for the Clippers. She added another basket and a free throw in the first half. Addi Holden put in a two and a three, and Taylor McCabe added a bucket. The Clippers were behind 23-12 at the intermission.

Thompson put in a pair of freebies for the first Clipper points of the second half, but Lacey McCabe, always saved for two quarters on varsity, took over, starting with a two-point bucket and following up with a three.

Taylor McCabe scored, and then Lacey McCabe took her turn with a bucket before Taylor McCabe scored again, and the Clippers were catching up.

Samantha Baker hit a basket, and Lacey McCabe scored again. With a pair of baskets, Thompson took over from there. She made a pair of free shots down the stretch. The Clippers limited Cathedral to just four baskets from the floor in the second half, but with the Clippers in foul mode, the Greyhounds made five free throws to hang on.

Thompson led the effort with 13 points. Lacey McCabe had nine points. Taylor McCabe had six points. Holden contributed five points, and Baker chipped in points.

The Clippers had a pair of threes and were five of 11 from the foul line. NUC put in one three and 10 of 21 foul shots.

Against the Rockets, the Clippers trailed 22-7 at the break. Taylor McCabe (above), who led the effort with 10 points, put in a two and a three in the half, and Holden made a basket from the floor.

McCabe added another two and a three in the second half, and sister Lacey put in four buckets off the bench for eight points. Thompson added a basket.

The Clippers had two foul shots, but both were off the mark. Randolph had six baskets from behind the arc and made eight of 12 free shots.

The B girls travel to Henderson on Monday to take on Le Sueur-Henderson at Hilltop school.
