Nathan Seeman jump shot

Dropping another three games, the B squad boys last week lost 51-25 at New Ulm Cathedral on Friday, fell 46-12 to visiting Madelia on Thursday and were defeated at home 44-28 by Nicollet on Tuesday.

With Kale Kelley on the Cathedral floor, the Clippers scored all but five of their points in the first half. Kelley made five two-point baskets and a pair of free throws. Brady Bostic hit a three and made a free throw, Carson Lyons made a two pointer and a free shot, and Gavin Karels put in a free throw. The Clippers were still in the game, only down 26-20, at the break.

But saved for varsity, Kelley and Lyons exited at halftime. Nathan Brink and Karels each made a shot from the floor, and Mason Kluntz added a free throw, but that was all the offense the Clippers could construct, and the Greyhounds cruised to the win.

Kelley’s dozen points was the most for the Clippers. Bostic had four points. Lyons and Karels each had three points. Brink scored two points, and Kluntz had one point.

The Clippers made six of 13 free throws. The Greyhounds also had one three and made seven of 16 free shots.

At home against Madelia, Bostic dropped in a three to tie the game 3-3. The Blackhawks put in a two and then a three to regain the lead before Alex Johnson hooked in a basket.

But a pair of Jordan Schmidt free baskets was all the Clippers could manage the rest of the half, and they trailed 30-7 at the break.

It didn’t get any better after the intermission with the Clippers limited to five points, all coming from the foul line. Brink and Kluntz each made two of them, and Karels made one.

The Clippers were successful in seven of 16 free shots. Madelia had four three-point baskets and was two of five from the foul line.

Bode Bartell and Nathan Strobel both had a first-half three when Nicollet came to town. Bostic added a basket, Kluntz made a pair of free shots, and Karels put in one foul shot. The Clippers trailed 20-11 at the half.

Nathan Seeman made three baskets to lead the Clippers second-half effort. Elijah Mons, Jordan Schmidt, Bostic, Strobel and Bartell each added one basket, and Kluntz made a free shot.

Seeman totaled six points. Bartell and Strobel each had five points. Bostic added four points. Kluntz had three points, Schmidt and Mons each had four pints. Karels had one point.

The Clippers made 25 percent of their 16 foul shots. Nicollet had five threes and was five for 16 from the foul line.

The B-squad boys will look to get back on track when they host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday.
