Henry Strobel handoff in 4x200

Leading off both the 4x100 team and 4x200 team (above), both which took second places, Henry Strobel  earned a pair of All-Conference Honorable Mentions in the conference meet at Lake Crystal on Tuesday.

In both tight races, Strobel, a senior, handed off to Josh Kann. Nick Huisken ran third, and Simon Morgan crossed the finish line: in 47:47, a tenth of a second behind the winners and in 1:39.56, 0.43 seconds behind the winners.

Savannah Meyer also earned an pair of All-Conference Honorable Mentions . The sophomore finished second of 11 runners in the 1600 (5:37.28) and ran the second leg of the second place 4x400 team (Maddie Huiras, Kylie Kolars and Lauren Yennish). Their time of 4:27.32 was just a second and a half behind the winner.

Earning All-Conference for first-place finishes were Morgan in the 110 hurdles (15.91), Kylie Kolars in the high jump (4-10) and Huiras in both the 100 hurdles (17.52) and 300 hurdles (49.70).

With a silver finish in the 300 hurdles (48.84), Casey Fogal also was an All-Conference Honorable Mention.

Also at the conference meet, Elijah Mons ran the 1600 in 5:46.66 for 10th place. TJ Waldron’s 11:40.84 finish in the 3200 was good for fourth place. Strobel was sixth in the triple jump (35-9.5). Kamryn Lindsay’s 4-2 high jump put her in 10th place. Thayne Remiger’s 5-2 high jump put him in sixth place.

Girls team rankings were 1) LCWM/Nicollet (161) 2) St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran (86) 3) MCW/Butterfield-Odin (57) 4) Loyola/Cleveland (56) 5) Madelia/Truman/GHEC/Martin Luther (12).

Boys team rankings were 1) LCWM/Nicollet (135) 2) St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran (68) 3) MCW/Butterfield-Odin (66) 4) Madelia/Truman/GHEC/Martin Luther (54) 5) Loyola/Cleveland (51).

The Crusader track team returns to action next Thursday (5/25) for the sub-section meet in Arlington.

Wells section true team, 5/9

The true team meet is unique because each athlete scores points for his or her team. Both the boys and girls team finished 11th overall in the 16-team section. The boys scored a total of 523.5 points, and the girls scored a total of 448.5 points. 

Highlights:

Simon Morgan placed first in the 110 high Hurdles (15.81).

Soren Kelly placed fifth in the 1600 (4:55.3).

The boys 4x800 meter relay placed fifth (9:05.34).

Maddie Huiras placed second in the 300 meter hurdles (49.77).

Savannah Meyer placed fourth in the 800 (2:33.65).

Kylie Kolars placed third in the high jump (4-10) and second in the long lump (15-10).

Henry Strobel was 15th in the 100 (12.72) and 14th in the triple jump (36-00.50).

Mylie Krenik was 32nd in the 200 (33.41).

Thayne Remiger was eighth in the high jump (5-4).

Kamryn Lindsay was 20th in the high jump (4-4).

New Richland, 5/4

Five teams competed at the NRHEG invite. The Crusader girls team finished last while the boys took fourth.

Highlights:

Kylie Kolars took second place in the long jump (14-6.5) and third in the high jump (4-06).

Raegan Tiegs took third place in the triple jump (30-3).

The girls 4x800 (Molly Koester, Teya Waagner, Lilly Mock, and Lilly Phillips) placed second (12:37.97).

Lauren Yenish placed 3rd in the 100 hurdles (18.24).

Soren Kelly placed third in the 1600 (4:51.76).

Maddie Huiras placed first in the 300 hurdles (50.23) .

TJ Waldron was sixth in the 3200 (11:58.03).

Mylie Krenik was ninth in the 200 (32.85).

Elijah Mons was 10th  in the 800 (2:35.61) and 15th in the triple jump (28-3).

The boys 4x200 team (Henry Strobel, Josh Kann, Nick Huisken and Simon Morgan) finished third (1:40.99).

The boys 4x800 team (Alvaro Castellanos, Sam Vetter, Nathan Strobel and Carter Zimmerman) was third (9:28.62).

Henry Strobel was ninth in the 100 (12.75).

Thayne Remiger was eighth in the high jump (5-02).

New Ulm, 4/27

At New Ulm, a rainy start turned into a great night for a track meet with several personal bests throughout the competition. The boys took fifth of six teams while the girls were last of six teams.

Highlights:  

Simon Morgan won first place in the 110 hurdles (18.87.)

Carter Zimmerman took third place in the 1600 (5:29).

Maddie Huiras took second in the 100 hurdles (17.67).

Kylie Kolars second place in the high jump (5-0).

4x200m relay team of Lauren Yenish, Enara Aguririano, Kylie Kolars, Maddie Huiras took second  place (1:59.54). 

TJ Waldron finished fourth of 14 runners in the 1600 for a personal record 5:30.97.

The 4x100 team of Jack Skubitz, Josh Kann, Henry Strobel and Nick Huisken finished fourth (49.16).

The 4x800 team of Alvaro Castellanos, Nathan Strobel, Kyle Zimmerman and Soren Kelly finished second (9:09.51).

Thayne Remiger was ninth in the high jump (5-2).

Mylie Krenik was 14th in the 200 (33.50).

The Crusader boys team placed first of teams competing while the girls finished third.

TJ Waldron came in third in the 3200 (11:26.81).

Henry Strobel took 11th in the 200 (26.43).

Savannah Meyer took second place in the 800 (2:31.74).

Kamryn Lyndsay was fifth in the high jump (4-8).

Thayne Remiger was ninth in the high jump (5-04) and 17th  in the long jump (14-4).

The 4x200 team (Henry Strobel, Josh Kann, Nick Huisken and Simon Morgan) took third (1:39.59).

The 4x800 team (Alavro Castellanos, Nathan Strobel, Kyle Zimmerman and Carter Zimmerman) took second place (9:09.48).
