Four Cleveland qualifiers

A quartet Cleveland track & field athletes are among 19 Cleveland/Mankato Loyola Crusaders who qualified for the Section 2A meet during the South Subsection meet in Arlington on May 25.

Savannah Meyer (left) won the 800 with a PR of 2:25.90. She also qualified as a member of the Crusaders' third-place 4 X 400 relay team. Maddie Huiras led off and handed the baton to Meyer. Kylie Kolars ran the third leg, and Lauren Yenish anchored the team in its 4:23.33 finish.

With PR time of 4:54.17, Nathan Strobel (right) took home gold in the 1600.

Running the 3200 in 11:20.19, TJ Waldron (second from right) also PRd and placed sixth to make the cut.

Henry Strobel (second from left) qualified for section as a  member of the third place 4 x 100 relay team. Strobel led off and handed the baton to Josh Kann. Nick Huisken ran the third leg, and Simon Morgan crossed the finish line in 46.31, about a half second behind the first-place team.

The top eight athletes in each individual event and the top four relay teams qualify for the sections meet, which will be held at Mankato West on Saturday.

Also qualifying were the members of the boys third-place 4 x 800 team: Soren Kelly, Adam Vetter, Kyle Zimmerman and Lavaro Castellanos.

With a 10:22.58 finish for first place, Kelly also qualified in the 3200. Castellanos qualified in the 800. He was eighth at Arlington.

Just a hundredth of a second behind the winner, Morgan qualified in the 110 high hurdles (15.47). Chase Kijenski qualified in both the 300 intermediate hurdles and the high jump. He was fifth in both events.

Huisken qualified in the pole vault. His 10-6 over was good for fourth place.  

Second at the subsection with a 48.75 finish, Huiras qualified in the 300-meter low hurdles. She also qualified for sections when she took silver in the 100-meter high hurdles (17.30). Yenish also qualified in the 100-meter high hurdles with her seventh-place 17.96 finish.

Kolars qualified in the high jump, where her 5-1 leap was good for first place, and the long jump, where she took fourth when she sprung for 15-9. Raegan Tiegs qualified in the triple jump. Her 29-9 distance put her in eighth place.  

Molly Koester qualified in the 3200. She was eighth with a 13:52.13 finish.   

Also in Arlington, Thayne Remiger placed 12th in high jump with 5-4. Kamryn Lindsay placed ninth in the high jump with 4-6. Mylie Krenik placed 20th in the 200 with a PR of 31.96. Elijah Mons placed 17th in the 800 with 2:35.14 and 24th in the triple jump with 29-2.25. 

Henry Strobel also led off the fifth-place 4 x 200 and competed in triple jump. His 35-10.75 leap was good for 12th place
