Mariah McCabe hit

It was a good start for the Clippers B girls when they hosted Mountain Lake on Tuesday, but down 1-0, the Wolverines won the next two games and the match.

On Thursday, the B girls won 3-1 over host Madelia.

With four Delaney Thompson ace serves, a Kiera Schipper kill and an Addi Holden ace block in between them, the B-Squad Clippers jumped out to an 11-0 start against Mountain Lake.

A little later, Holden rolled the ball off her hand to empty spot of Wolverine floor, Taylor McCabe served and ace, and Holden swatted a kill to put the Clippers up 15-3.

After three Mountain Lake points, Anika Sathoff swung for a pair of kills to put the Clippers in front 17-6. As the game wound down, the Wolverines couldn’t stay out of the mesh while Lacey McCabe uncoiled back-to-back kills to put the Clippers in front 23-10. The game ended 25-13 on a Schipper spike.

The Wolverine’s couldn’t find Holden’s bump over early in game two, and the Clippers went in front 2-1. McCabe dished a couple of aces with the second one aided by the net, and Sathoff hammered a kill that put the Clippers up 6-1.

The Wolverines went on the attack to knot the game at 10 and then led 16-13 after a series of Clipper errors. Thompson tipped over a pair of winners to knot the game at 16, but the Wolverines mixed a tip with a kill for the next two points.

Schipper tilted over a winner after that, but the Clippers caught the error bug after that and lost 25-22.

A kill by Oliva Shouler and a push over the net for a point were the only Clipper winners in the short set. After three Clipper errors, the game ended 15-7 on an ace serve.

Schipper had five kills in the effort. Sathoff hit down four kills. Holden had two kills. Thomson had six ace serves and nine set assists.

At Madelia, the Clippers beat the Blackhawks 25-15 and 25-11 before losing the just-for-fun game 16-14.

Thompson landed all 15 of her serves safely with two aces. The freshman also had 19 set assists and five digs.

Holden led the attack force with six kills. Sathoff, McCabe and Maile Meissner each had five kills. Jocelyn Kortuem had six set assists and four digs.

The B-Squad will return to the court on Tuesday when it takes a trip to Lake Crystal.
