Addi Holden hit.

The JV girls cruised through visiting Martin County West on Tuesday of last week before they won the first set against Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman in Northrop on Thursday but lost the match 2-1.

Taylor McCabe inaugurated game one against Martin County West with a pair of kills. Addi Holden swung down a kill, Delaney Thompson dished an ace serve, and with another McCabe hit for a winner, the Clippers were quickly up 6-0.

Mariah McCabe’s ace serve put the Clippers in front 7-3. With a Maya Lassiter ace push, the Clippers led 8-5. Anika Sathoff found a spot of open floor, Lilly Lamont served an ace, and the Clippers led 16-6.

Down the stretch, Holden snapped another kill as did Sathoff, and the game ended 25-13 on a Sathoff hit.

With kills by Taylor McCabe and Holden, the Clippers quickly took over game two. Maile Meissner put up an ace block and smacked down a kill, and with a couple of Kiera Schipper service aces, the Clippers led 11-5.

Later, the Mavericks came up with an ace block and a pair of ace serves to pull within three, 19-16, but Sathoff and Meisner went on the attack from there, and the game ended 25-18 when Lamont set up a Taylor McCabe kill.

Game three was pretty much all Clippers with Taylor McCAbe leading the offense. It ended 15-5 when the Mavericks couldn’t assemble a return.

Taylor McCabe totaled a dozen kills and seven digs. Holden had five kills. Sathoff had seven kills and for digs. Meissner had three kills. Lamont had 13 set assists. Thompson had seven set assists and two digs. Luci Blaschko had five digs. Mariah McCabe had three digs. Olivia Shouler and Valentina Rohlfing each had two digs. Jocelyn Kortuem was 10 for 10 from the service line and had three set assists. Thompson was nine for nine with one ace. Schipper was seven for seven with one ace.

In Northrop against ML/GHEC/T, Thompson sent over an ace serve, Holden cracked a hit across the Jaguar court, and Mariah McCabe hit for a winner for a 5-0 lead in game one.

Taylor McCabe served an ace, Lassiter scored on a kill, and Lacey McCabe served an ace, but the Jaguars kept pace after that until Taylor McCabe’s kill was the start of a three-point Clipper surge.

With a pair of Holden kills and a Thompson ace serve, the Clippers led 10-9. The Jags upped their offense after that, but the game ended 25-18 when they couldn’t set up a return.

Thompson started game two with a service ace, but the Jaguars scored the next four points. Sathoff and Holden scored on kills, but the Jaguars went in front 15-12 before a Taylor McCabe kill.

The Clippers trailed 16-13 when the Jags hit into the net. Thompson followed up with a couple of ace serves, and with a pair if overzealous Jaguar hits, it was all even at 16.

The Clippers couldn’t control their attacks after that though, and the Jaguars won 25-21 when the Clippers couldn't make a return.

Kortuem followed a Schipper kill with an ace serve for a 2-0 Clipper lead in the rubber game, but with the Clippers still not getting a handle on their hitting, the Jaguars took over 9-8.

Taylor McCAbe pushed over a winner during a four-point run that put the Clippers in front 12-9, but the Jaguars came up with a couple of ace tips while two Clipper serves went out of bound before the game ended 15-13 when the Clippers socked the ball into the net.

Sathoff had six kills in the effort. Holden and Taylor McCabe each had four kills. Thompson had nine set assists. Lacey McCabe had eight digs. Lamont was nine for nine from the service line with a pair of aces. Taylor McCabe was five for five with one ace.

With Mankato Loyola only having enough players for a varsity team on Tuesday of this week, the JV girls scrimmaged the C girls.

The JV girls return to action on Monday when they host Le Sueur-Henderson.
