Girls in costumes

From carnivals to haunted hayrides...in the Township Hall and City Hall, on the old gym floor and in tents on the street, Halloween celebrations in Cleveland have evolved and adapted over the years.

This October 31st, elementary students enjoyed a costume dance party in the new gym to close out the school day. In the evening, there was a Trunk or Treat celebration at Our Savior’s Lutheran for everyone.

Kids and staff paraded in their costumes and followed moves on the jumbotron during the dance party.

A prelude to trick or treating, Trunk or Treat, sponsored by the Lutheran Church and Community Education, is usually, held in the church parking lot, but the weather was on the frigid side, so the event moved inside the church hall.

Through the work of many volunteers, kids could play games for prizes, get candy from one of the tables and grab a meal.

“This is kind of the starting point,” said Community Education coordinator Rich Kern. “They come here and then head all over town.”

And they did. The wind subsided in the evening, and although still on the chilly side, it was a good night for trick or treating.
