Crossing the finish line in 19:59.7, seventh grader Charlotte Meyer was 29th of 160 Class A girl runners at the state meet held today (Saturday) at the University of Minnesota’s Les Bolstad golf course in St. Paul.

The Crusader girls were 12th of 16 teams. The winning time was 18:20.5.

With a 19:28.4 finish, teammate Valarie Quast was first for the Crusaders and 12th overall.

Lily Phillips was 119th with a 21:48.1. Molly Koester was 135th with a 22:33.5. Charlotte Kirschner was 147th with a 23:17.8.

Poking at the first five Crusaders, Izzy Endres was 151st with a 23:28.8. Teya Waagner didn’t complete the race.

Of the 11 seventh graders competing, Meyer was second.

Running as individuals in the Class A boys contest, Soren Kelly was 25th with a 16:50.6, and Sam Vetter was 43rd with a 17:03.2. The winning time among the 160 runners was a blistering 15:40.0. 

Both Quast and Kelly earned All-State honors.

 Both the Crusader girls and boys will return next year with strong teams.
