Had the Clipper B squad girls been full strength, Thursday’s home game against Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman might have been a triumph, but with four players out with injury or illness, including starters, the Clippers lost to the Jaguars 32-26.

Delaney Thompson (above) scored the game’s first basket and eight more points in the half, but the Clippers trailed 16-14 at the break.

The Jaguars opened the second half with a three, but Keira Schipper responded with a three and then grabbed her own shot rebound and put it back up for a two-points, and the Clippers pulled within a point, 20-19.

But the Jaguars scored 10 of the next 11 points. Taylor McCabe, in the game for the second half, scored six points after that, but that was it for Clipper offense, and the Jaguars hung on for the win.

Thompson led the effort with 10 points in one half played. Schipper added eight points. McCabe had six points. Kaitlyn Flowers scored two points.

The Clippers made seven of 11 foul shots. The Jaguars also put in one three-point basket and were nine of 16 in free throw shooting.

The Clipper B squad girls game against Alden-Conger on Tuesday is canceled. They will return to action on Friday when they travel to Madelia.
