Third grade boys team on the court

Three gym floors and four courts, 28 teams and more than 250 boys and girls competitors in grades three-six, hundreds of spectators…

Cleveland School was bustling on Saturday with the elementary basketball tournament. Along with Cleveland, schools from Blue Earth, Mankato Loyola, St. Clair and Nicollet competed.

The sixth grade boys lost to St Clair Black and Blue Earth Maroon. They are coached by Andy Smith and Mark Giebel.

The fifth-grade boys edged Blue Earth 33-30 and beat Nicollet. They are coached by Travis Mons and Jesse Hastings.

The fourth-grade boys orange team beat Loyola Blue but were defeated by Blue Earth. They are coached by Todd Karels and John McLister.

The fourth-grade boys black team (above), which is really made up of third graders, beat Loyola Gold but was defeated by St. Clair. They are coached by Annie Miller, Andy Schmidt, Scott Rutz and Dan Pearson.

The fifth-grade girls fell to Blue Earth but beat Nicollet. They are coached by Steve Baker and Scott Miller.

The fourth-grade girls had one game and beat Loyola. They are coached by John Wobbrock and Dustin Hoffmann.
