While most of the funds raised by the Cleveland, Nicollet and Mankato Loyola volleyball teams during their Dig’N Pink events are directed to patients undergoing cancer treatment at the Mankato hospital, some are awarded locally as well.
On Thursday, seventh grader Mattea Grandaw (left) and freshman Delaney Thompson (right), representing the Clipper volleyball program, presented Mike Lassonde of Cleveland with a check for $1000.
Lassonde’s wife Kim passed away this fall from a rare form of brain tumor. A kind, light-hearted and funny person and talented singer, Kim had gone through many rounds of expensive treatment.
With Lassonde are the couple’s daughters : Jasmine Lassonde (6) and Lilly Lassonde (5).
This year’s Dig’N Pink, with Cleveland fundraising efforts led by Brandi Grandaw, raised over $26,000.
