Ava Hahn sets up for a three

Back on the winning track, the Clipper varsity girls sunk 11 three-point baskets to roll over host Le Sueur -Henderson 49-22 on Friday.

The Giants took the ball inside to score the game’s first basket, but Ava Hahn (above) plopped in a couple of threes, and after Lacey McCabe put in a two-point jumper, Taylor McCabe and Addi Holden each canned a three, and the Clippers were up 14-7.

The Giants scored the next five points to narrow their deficit to a basket, but Greta Hahn hopped on the three-point bandwagon when she took an in-bounds pass outside the arc and airmailed it in for a basket.

Lacey McCabe followed up with a three, and Ava Hahn sunk to more threes and Greta Hahn one more, and with an Ava Hahn steal and coast-to-coast drive for a layup, the Clippers were in front 32-14 at the half.

The Giants scored the first three points of the second half, but Holden canceled them with a three. Later, Keira Schipper bagged a three, and with two-point baskets by Greta Hahn, Lacey McCabe, Kaitlyn Flowers and Taylor McCabe, the Clippers cruised to the triumph.

Ava Hahn totaled 16 points. Greta Hahn had nine points. Lacey McCabe had eight points, Holden had six points, and Taylor McCabe had five points. Schipper contributed three points.

All told, the Clippers put in 11 threes and made four of six free throw attempts. The Giants were successful in six of 15 foul shots.

The Clippers host Madelia tonight. They beat the Blackhawks 68-42 earlier in the season.
