Alex Kortuem with the ball

Nicollet didn’t give the visiting B boys much problem on Thursday in a 58-28 Clipper victory.

The Raiders scored first, but Mason Kluntz clutched an offensive rebound and scored, sailed through the paint for another basket, took a Kale Kelley steal plus assist in for a bucket and then handed off to Braeden Smith for a layup that put the Clippers in front 8-3.

The Clippers never trailed from there. After Kluntz made a free throw, Smith bagged a three, and Alex Kortuem hit the first of a pair of threes he had in the half.

Kelley stole for a layup, and with another Kortuem tres, a Kluntz basket and ensuing free shot, and a Gavin Karels jumper from the baseline after a Kortuem steal and assist, the Clippers were in front 30-12 at the break.

Alex Johnson scored first three Clipper baskets after the intermission. Kortuem added two more threes, and Karels and Garrett Heldberg put in three and a two. The game ended when Killian Kunkel spun in for two.

Kluntz ended the night with a dozen points, five buckets and two freebies. Plopping in quartet of threes, Kortuem also totaled a dozen points. With eight points were Karels, Johnson and Smith.  Kunkel and Kelley each had two points.

The Clippers posted seven threes and made five of 13 shots from the foul stripe. Nicollet had a pair of threes and made two of six free shots.

The B boys travel to Janesville tonight (Monday).
