Host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton rolled over the B boys on Monday, 68-34.

The Clippers got off to a good start though. The Bulldogs scored twice with the first basket coming off a steal and an offensive rebound. Mason Kluntz got the Clippers on the scoreboard when he took an inbounds pass in for a bucket.

The Bulldogs scored twice more, the second one after a steal, but the Clippers spurted for eight points from there with layups by Gavin Karels and  Kluntz, an inside bucket by Alex Johnson after he juked the defender, and another Karels layup that put the Clippers in front 10-8.

The Bulldogs responded with a three, but Alex Kortuem crossed it off when he parked a shot from behind the arc. But the Bulldogs started to distance themselves from there with the next eight points.

A Kortuem jumper put a halt to the run, but the Bulldogs went on a rampage with four steals and ensuing baskets after each one. Johnson scored from underneath the iron, and Karels dumped in a three, but the Bulldogs had a 39-17 advantage at the break.

The Clippers couldn’t get their offense in gear in the second half. Outscoring the Clippers 29-14, the Bulldogs bagged and tagged the triumph.

With a pair of two-point baskets in each half and a three in the first half, Karels led the Clippers with 11 points. Kortuem had a three in each half and nine total points. Johnson put in a bucket and a pair of free shots in the second half and had eight total points. Kluntz had two baskets, both in the first half. Garrett Heldberg put in two free shots in the second half.

The Clippers made three threes and five of 10 foul shots. The Bulldogs made eight threes and four of 10 free throws.

The Clipper B boys return to action today (Thursday) with a game in Waterville.
