Running into a couple of local roadblocks, the Clipper B boys fell 72-46 to host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown on Thursday and 65-36 to Le Sueur-Henderson the following Monday.

With a couple of threes in the mix and five points after steals, the visiting Giants scored the first nine points. Setting up camp at the top of the arc, Alex Kortuem deposited a three-pointer to break up the run.

But the Giants stole at will after that and scored nine of the next 10 points for a comfortable 18-4 advantage.

Kale Kelley went to work with a jumper from the baseline and a three, but the Giants kept the pressure on with 10 more points before Mason Kuntz put in a shot from near the basket.

Trailing 36-10, the Clippers scored seven points as the first half wound down, including a Kelley three and a Braeden Smith basket when he rebounded after a missed Clipper free throw, but the Clippers trailed 38-17 at halftime.

Checking in the game in the second half, Garrett Heldberg put in a three en route to 11 points, but Kortuem and Kluntz were the only other Clippers to score from the floor in the half, and the Giants cakewalked to the victory.

Heldberg had 11 points in the effort. Kelley had nine points in one half played. Kluntz scored three points in each half, and Kortuem had five points. Smith put in a bucket in the first half for two total points. Tanner Simonette, Karels and Alex Johnson each put in a free shot.

The Clippers had four threes, two from Kelley and one each from Kortuem and Heldberg. They were a flat eight of 28 from the foul line. The Giants made eight threes and seven of 13 foul shots.

Stepping in front of Clipper passes the Thursday before, the Buccaneers scored the first seven points. Johnson put in a couple of free shots to break up the run, and Kluntz hauled in an offensive rebound and scored, but the Bucs spurted for another six points to take a 13-4 lead.

Smith shot in three baskets and a couple of freebies, and Karels bagged the Clippers' only three and followed it with a two-point bucket, but the Bucs doubled up on the Clippers by breaktime, 42-21.

Johnson put in a trio of second half baskets, and Heldberg. entering the game in the second half. scored seven points. Simonette and Kortuem each contributed a pair of buckets, but the Clippers were never really in the ball game.

No Clipper made double figures. Karels had nine points. Smith and Johnson each had eight points. Heldberg posted seven points. Kluntz ended the night with six points. Kortuem and Simonette each had four points.
