Kaitlyn Flowers reaches out for a catch

With a 9-1 win over visiting Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, it was business as usual for the Clipper girls on Tuesday.

Delaney Thompson threw all seven innings and only allowed one hit. She struck out a dozen, walked four and stranded seven.

The Clippers racked up 10 hits.

Thompson and Cecelia Gair each had a single and a double and one RBI. Taylor McCabe had two singles. Kaitlyn Flowers had a double and two RBIs. Keira Schipper had a single and two RBIs. Lacey McCabe had a single and one RBI on a bases loaded walk. Kiya Sohn and a single and one RBI.

Drawing a walk with the bases loaded Taylor Wolf had one RBI while Anna Lamont scored a run on a ground out, and Ava Kluntz got hit by a pitch to score a run.

The Clippers committed four errors compared to the Bulldogs’ one miscue.

Thompson led off the bottom of the second with a double, advanced to third on a Sohn single and scored when Flowers hit into a fielder’s choice.

Lamont got a free pass to marinate the bases. Sohn scored when Lacey McCabe walked, Flowers scored when Wolf walked, and Kluntz took a pitch for her team to score Lamont. Back up, Thompson singled to score Lacey McCabe and put the Clippers in front 5-0.

In the fourth, Flowers got hit by a pitch, moved to second on a Taylor McCabe single, took third on a wild pitch and scored on an Anna Lamont ground out.

The Bulldogs scored their only run in the fifth when their top of the order led off with a single, advanced to second on a ground out and scored on an outfield error.

The Clippers added two more runs in the fifth when Wolf walked, Gair singled. After Thompson grounded into a fielder’s choice, Sohn walked to load the bases before Schipper hit a fly ball to center for two RBIs.

The Clippers scored their final run in the sixth when Lacey McCabe singled and scored when Gair airmailed a double into left field.

The Clippers, now 7-0, host Madelia in a rematch on Thursday.
