With shutout wins over visiting Madelia on Friday, the junior high girls continue their unbeaten streak. They are now 12-0.

Cleveland 14, Madelia 0

The Clippers scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Leading off, Kylie Wobbrock laid down a bunt single. Emma Kortuem took a free pass as did Gretchen Heldberg to load the bases. All scored on wild pitches.

In the second, Hadley Thompson walked and scored after three passed balls. Emily Baker reached first on a third-strike dropped pitch and advanced to third on passed balls before she got caught stealing home. Harley Samuelson walked, and Wobbrock found some open space in right field for a single before Kortuem singled to score Samuelson. Anistyn Dauk hit into an infield error, and Kortuem scored on the play. Heldberg walked, Dauk scored on a passed ball, and Heldberg crossed the plate when Natalie Flowers sent a single into right field to put the Clippers up 9-0 and affect the five-run limit.  

The Clippers added four runs in the third. Lily McMilllen led off with a single. Both scored on passed balls. Thompson and Baker hit back-to-back doubles with Baker’s for the RBI before she scored on a wild pitch. Wobbrock walked and scored on a passed ball for the 14-0 final.

The Clippers totaled seven hits. Wobbrock had two singles. Thompson and Baker each had a double. Kortuem, Flowers and McMillian each added a single.

Tossing all four innings, Wobbrock (above) allowed just one hit, a single in the first inning, and one walk while striking out nine. The Clippers stranded three runners.

The Clippers suffered one error while Madelia committed two errors.

Throwing all four innings in the second game, Addison Sandhurst didn’t allow Madelia a hit. Meanwhile, the Clippers scattered six hits en route to a 12-0 final.

The Clippers posted two runs in the first. Leading off, Wobbrock reached first on an error, and Kortuem walked. Wobbrock scored on a Dauk ground out while Kortuem scored on a Heldberg ground out.

They scored five more runs in the third on walks by Sandhurst, Thompson, Baker and Kortuem, an error and aHeldberg single.

Leading off the third, Flowers made a non-stop trip around the bases after she poked a hit into center field. McMillian and Sandhurst singled, and Thompson bashed a two-RBI triple. Wobbrock doubled, and after Kortuem walked, Wobbrock stole home to fill out the inning.

Flowers hit a home, Thompson hit a triple, Wobbrock hit a double, and McMillian, Sandhurst and Heldberg all hit a single.

Sandhurst walked three and struck out seven. The Clippers didn’t commit an error. Madelia had three errors.

The Clippers opened their season on April 3 with an 11-1 win over host Sibley East. Four days later, they traveled to Welcome and beat MCW 14-4. On April 11, they beat visiting Le Sueur-Henderson 4-0 and 11-5. On April 14, they beat visiting Sibley East 20-1. On April 17, they beat visiting St. Clair 6-0. On April 21, they topped host St Clair 11-2. The following day, they traveled to Truman and beat GHEC/T 16-6 and 10-1.

They return to action today (Tuesday) when they travel to Nicollet.
