Trap shooters in a line

Upping his score by another point, Jake Mueller was again the top Clipper trap shooter on Wednesday. Mueller missed just one target each round for a 48.

Despite a gusty headwind, the Clippers upped their average score slightly, from 32.7 to 32.9.

As most shotguns shoot a little high, but the headwind causes the clay discs to rise a little quicker, shooters need to make a couple of slight adjustments, said coach Brandon Ellickson.

“You want to tighten the gap between the bird and the barrel, leave a little less space there, and wait the bird out until it hits the top.”

Chase Bock (above) shot a 46. Tony Hollerich shot a 43, and Colton Tousley shot a 40.

Marshall Heldberg brought down 39 discs. Upping his score by 15 points to a 38, Henry Boelter improved the most over the prior week. Also with a 38 was Brunson Gibbs. He brought down eight more clays than he did a week ago.

John Ritchie and Blake Stocker each posted 37s. With 35s were Tyler Smith, Austin Anderley, Urijah Hoheisel and Gauge Bock. Olivia Reinhardt connected with 34 discs. Ben Traxler, Graham Reinhardt and Nolan Schlaak each shot a 33. Kendra Zimmerman broke up 32 clay birds. Cole Stocker shot a 31.

Brayden Seeman scored a 30. Kayla Bauer and Aiden Giese each shot a 28. Improving from last week by 13, Jacquelyn Heldberg shot a 27. Deandra Doerr also brought down 27 targets.

With 25s were Ethan Lloyd and Chase Roemhildt. Carter Kern scored a 24. Sawyer Roemhildt shot a 23, and Steve Giebel scored a 16.
