Just missing three of 100 targets, eighth grader Jake Mueller led the Cleveland varsity trap meet at the Minnesota Trap Shooting Championship in Alexandria. Placed in Class 4A, the Clippers shot on June 12.
With scores of 25, 23, 24 and 25, Mueller was in six-way tie for fourth place in Class 4A. The winner didn’t miss a target. The second-place shooter missed one target, and the third-place shooter missed two. There were 341 competing in the Class 4A male varsity competition.
Rounding out the varsity fivesome, Blake Stocker shot a 92, Colton Tousley shot an 84, John Ritchie shot an 81, and Marshall Heldberg shot a 67.
As junior varsity shooters, Urijah Hoheisel and Cole Stocker each scored a 78. Competing as novices Jacquelyn Heldberg hit 55 targets, Ethan Lloyd connected with 53 targets and Brock Pugh knocked down 22 targets.
Each of the nine classes in the tournament has its own designated day to shoot.
