School board members

September is Minnesota School Board Recognition Month, a time to honor the dedicated leaders who serve as the guiding light for student success at Cleveland School.

They are, from L-R, Ryan Ponwith (Vice President), Andy Jindra (Director), Molly Stoffel (Director), Kevin McCabe (Treasurer), Scott Miller (President) and Nancy Heldberg (Clerk).

Chosen by the district population, the Cleveland School Board helps set the school’s vision, from approving curriculum to maintaining school facilities and navigating state and federal laws and budget constraints. Their leadership touches every corner of Cleveland School.

Their efforts often go unseen, but their impact is felt in every classroom, every program, and every student success story, said school superintendent Dustin Bosshart.

“Our school members don’t seek recognition, but their work deserves it. Their year-round commitment ensures that local control of education remains strong and that our schools continue to reflect the values and hopes of our community. They shape educational priorities to keep our focus squarely on what matters most: student success. Often, they have to make tough decisions, typically after extensive deliberation and study. They serve countless hours to ensure all students have the opportunity to thrive in school and are well prepared for life after graduation.”

This month—and every month—we encourage our community to say thank you to our dedicated school board members. Their service makes local control of public education possible, and their leadership helps shape the future of our schools and communities.
