Tony Hollerich run

While the varsity boys are off to a 4-0 start, behind them, the JV boys are undefeated as well. With a 28-0 win over visiting GFW on Monday, they are now 3-0.

A 25-yard Jack Mons pass to Wyatt Krenik set up a 10-yard Tony Hollerich sweep right for the game’s first touchdown. The PAT pass fell incomplete, but the Clippers led 6-0 at 7:57.

After a short Firebird punt, the Clippers scored again when Owen Lloyd capped off the drive with a 5-yard run across the goal line. Hollerich caught Mons’ PAT pass, and the Clippers led 14- with a minute and a half left in Q1.

Hollerich outran the kickoff returner to save a touchdown. GFW had the ball into the Clipper territory though, but the defense stood fast and kept the Birds out of the end zone.

In Q2, Lloyd sprinted left, extended a stiff arm at the 5-yard line and completed a 30-yard touchdown run. The Clippers fumbled the PAT handoff but led 20-0.

Later in the first half, Mons kept the ball for 8 yards, Gauge Bock added two more for the first down, and Hollerich ran 8 yard for the TD. Mons hooked up with Krenik in the end zone for a two-point conversion and a 28-0 lead.

Neither team scored in the second half.

The JV Clippers opened their season on September 2 with a 16-12 victory over host Le Sueur-Henderson. Six days later, they rolled over Madelia. They return to action on Monday when they host Mayer Lutheran.
