Game one started with a Crusader kill, but with a Melia Sathoff kill, a Taylor McCabe kill and a Sathoff ace serve, the Clippers took a 4-1 lead and never looked back. The game ended on a McCabe kill.
Sathoff’s ace serve to start game two was also the beginning of a seven-point Clipper run. Jocelyn Kortuem tipped over an ace for Clipper point 24, and after a Loyola kill, the game ended when the Crusader sent a serve out of bounds.
When the Crusaders didn’t assemble a return, the Clippers took the first point of game three. After a McCabe kill, the Crusaders spiked the next two points, but Maile Meisner went on a roll with an ace block followed by a pair of kills and the Clippers never trailed from there.
Meissner twisted her ankle in the Burnsville tournament two weekends ago and missed the match against Martin County West last Thursday, so she was happy to be back on the floor and really got into a groove.
The game and match ended on a Sathoff kill.
With 14 winning hits, Sathoff led the attackers. McCabe swung for 13 kills. Jocelyn Kortuem had two kills. Keira Schipper spiked three kills. Aubrey Blaschko hammered three kills. Meissner dropped down a pair of kills.
Kortuem setup 28 points. Thompson had four set assists. McCabe and Meissner each set for one assist.
Sathoff finished the night with 15 digs. Thompson hoisted 16 digs. McCabe propped up eight digs. Kortuem shoveled three digs. Luci Blaschko scooped three digs. Schipper lifted one dig. Aubrey Blaschko elevated four digs. Kaitlyn Flowers scraped one dig.
Meissner extended for three ace blocks and also had three ace block assists. Aubrey Blaschko had one solo ace block. Sathoff had one ace block assist. McCabe had four ace block assists. Schipper had two ace block assists.
Sathoff airmailed eight ace serves. McCabe and Kortuem each flung three ace serves. Luci Blaschko had one ace serve.
Tonight, the Clippers host Alden-Conger in what, as it has been for the past several years, the de facto conference championship. Both teams are undefeated in the Valley.
