With wins over Nicollet on Friday and Madelia the Tuesday before, the B-squad boys are off to a 2-0 start.

The Raiders scored the first five points. Tony Hollerich made an inside basket and an and-one and then stole and drove the floor for a basket and a 5-5 tie.

The Raiders responded with a bucket off a steal, but Jack Mons and Garrett Heldberg each put in a jump shot, Luke Heldberg added a free shot, Mons buried a three, and Garrett Heldberg hauled in an offensive rebound and put it back up for a basket and a 17-7 Clipper lead.

A Garrett Heldberg three was the last basket before the buzzer, and the Clippers led 22-20 at the intermission.

Hollerich drove for a bucket and Mons stole and scored on a layup for the first two baskets of the second half. The Raiders didn’t go away, but with threes by Zander Linder and Charlie Perkins in the mix, the Clippers outscored Nicollet 22-18 for the triumph.

Mons and Hollerich each contributed a dozen points. Garrett Heldberg had six points while Luke Heldberg added five points. Perkins also had six points. Linder scored three points.

Linder, Garrett Heldberg, Mons and Perkins each sunk a three. The Clippers were successful in half of their 16 foul shots. The Raiders had six three-point baskets and made two of nine foul shots.

In their season opener in Madelia on Tuesday, the Clippers, who were up 29-7 at the break, won 54-23.

With 16 points, Mons led all players. Hollerich had nine points. Luke Heldberg added eight points. Jack Anderson scored seven points. Linder put in two second-half baskets for four points. Garrett Heldberg scored three points in one half played. Perkins scored three points. Wyatt Krenik and Henry Boelter each chipped in two points. Hollerich, Anderson and Perkins each parked a three. The Clippers made all but one of their seven foul shots. Madelia had one three and made two of 11 free throws.

The B squad boys return to action tonight (Monday) when they travel to Mankato Loyola.
