While Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons eroded the Clipper B squad’s 11-point halftime advantage and went on to lead by three late in the second half, the Clippers surged down the stretch to escape their home court with a 54-52 on Tuesday.
A day later, the Clippers beat host Medford 60-47 to preserve their undefeated start to the 2026 season.
Garrett Heldberg ran in a layup, Luke Heldberg grabbed an offensive rebound and stretched back up for a bucket, and Tony Hollerich buried a three to get the Clippers started against Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons, but the Knights responded after each basket to only trail by a point, 7-6.
The Clippers scored the next sixteen points though. Jack Mons put in a running jump shot and then pulled down an offensive rebound and put it back up for a basket. Luke Heldberg drilled a jump shot, Garret Heldberg made a pair of free shots, Jack Anderson bagged back-to-back threes, and with a Mons steal at midcourt and a spin in for a basket, the Clippers were in front 23-6.
The Knights scored from inside to finally put a halt on the Clipper rally, but Charlie Perkins got into the action with a three, and Wyatt Krenik stole and put in a layup. Platooning three sets of players throughout the half, the Knights scored the next eight points, but Krenik buried another three to halt the uprising.
After a steal and a basket, the Knights closed out the half with a three, but the Clippers took a 32-21 lead into the locker room.
The Knights posted the first four points of the second half, but Luke Heldberg, fighting hard underneath the iron, towed down an offensive rebound, went back up for a bucket and made the following free throw. Soon after, Hollerich plunged a three to widen the Clipper lead.
The Knights were on a mission from there though with the next 13 points to deadlock the game at 38 apiece with 7:35 remaining. Luke Heldberg scored from under the basket to break up the run, but the Knights responded with a jump shot and a shot from behind the arc for five more points and a 43-40 advantage.
Luke Heldberg dropped in a jumper from the baseline, and Perkins made the first of two foul shots to tie the game at 43. While the Clipper defense kept the Knights at bay, Hollerich took a Krenik steal up and in from the baseline, and the Clippers were never behind again.
Krenik made another steal and this time drove the floor for a layup and a 47-43 Clipper lead. The Knights ran in a layup, but after Krenik made a pair of free throws, the Clippers led 49-45.
After the Knights added a free throw, Luke Heldberg made a couple free throws to widen the Clipper lead, but the Knights responded with a three to pull within a basket.
Hollerich bagged a jumper with 11 seconds left, but the Knights plunged in another three to only trail by a point. Quickly fouled, Krenik made the second of two foul shots with 1.1 seconds left to bag and tag the victory.
With 13 points, Luke Heldberg led all players. Krenik and Hollerich each had 10 points. Jack Anderson scored eight points all in the first half. Garrett Heldberg scored five points before leaving the game at the break. Mons left the game at the break with four points. Perkins also put in four points. Hollerich and Anderson each put in two threes. Krenik and Perkins had one three.
The Clippers made eight of 14 free throws. Alden Conger made eight threes and two of six free throws.
With 17 points, Mons led the Clippers to a 31-30 lead over Medford at halftime. As usual, Mons left the game then, but his team held for the win.
Hollerich and Krenik each contributed a dozen points. Garrett Heldberg had six points before exiting the game at the break. Zander Linder and Perkins each made five points. Luke Heldberg scored two points, and Zayden Linder chipped in a free throw.
The Clippers made four of 12 fouls shots and totaled eight threes, three from Hollerich and one by Zander Linder, Krenik, Garrett Heldberg, Mons and Perkins. Medford put in nine threes and six of 10 free shots.
The Clippers’ win streak ended on Tuesday when they fell on the road to Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther (see upcoming story). They will look to get back on the winning track when they host Le Sueur-Henderson on Friday.
