With nine of their points launched from behind the arc, visiting Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther topped the junior high Clipper girls 28-18 on Tuesday.

The Jaguars put in a free throw to turn on the scoreboard. The Clippers took a brief lead when Kenzie Kortuem assisted a Harley Samuelson layup, but the Jags floated in a basket and bagged a three for a 6-2 advantage.

The Clippers hung around though. Sophie Walser floated in a bucket, but the Jaguars replied with a basket from behind the arc. Kortuem hooked up with Samuelson again for a layup, and Kylie Wobbrock spurted for a layup, a free throw and another layup to put the Clippers up by a basket, 11-9.

But down the stretch, the Jaguars ran in a pair of layups to lead 13-11 at the intermission.

Picking up where they left off, the jaguars scored the first two baskets of the second half. Brylee Kortuem put in a free throw, and later Lily McMillen scored from the floor, but the Jaguars added a two and then extended their lead with a three before running in a layup for a 24-14 advantage.

Samuelson took another Kortuem assist in for a layup, and Anistyn Dauk also sprinted in a layup, but that was it for the Clipper offense, and the Jaguars put in a pair of free shots to put the finishing touches on the win.

With six points, Samuelson led the Clipper effort. Wobbrock had five points. The Clippers made two of four free baskets.

The junior high Clippers return to action tomorrow (Monday) when, instead of a girls B game, they host Faribault B.A. at 5:45.
