With temps struggling to break into the single digits, this year’s Snow Week could have been rebranded as Deep Freeze Week.
But despite the sub-zero weather, the winter celebration, with its theme “Songs in the Snow,” jump started today (Monday) with a royalty coronation in the old gym.
Co-emcee Taylor Wolf crowned junior Taylor McCabe as the Snow Week Queen. Co-emcee Vivian Hilfer crowned junior Carson Lyons as the Snow Week King.
Hilfer crowned sophomore Ava Kluntz as the Snow Week Baroness. Wolf crowned freshman Jack Mons as the Snow Week Baron.
Wolf crowned freshman Natalie Flowers as the Snow Week Princess. Hilfer crowned seventh grader Griffin Rutz as the Snow Week Prince.
Other queen candidates were junior Amelia Chmiel and seniors Dacota Lotspeich and Madison Wollschlager. Other king candidates were junior Caleb Connor and seniors Bode Bartell and Martavis Williams.
Other baroness candidates were freshmen Amelia Baker and Paisley Janssen and sophomore Jocelyn Kortuem. Other baron candidates were freshman Creidin Lee and sophomores Austin Anderley and Aiden Giese.
Other princess candidates were seventh graders Isabella Baker and Brienna Groebner and eighth grader Adison Sandhurst. Other prince candidates were seventh grader Abel Hastings and eighth graders Jonathan Cink and Evan Hoffmann.
The high school student body voted all candidates into the coronation.
Snow week features dress-up days and activities. Today is Pajama Day for high schoolers. For elementary students, it is also Pajama Day. The song of the day, played during morning announcements, is Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream.”
Tuesday’s dress-up theme is Hawaiian for the high school while for the elementary students it is Twin Day. They will dress to match a friend. The song of the day is Perry’s “California Girls.”
Wednesday’s dress-up theme is camo for the high school while for the elementary students it is Whacky Hair and Clothes Day. The song is the Zac Brown Band’s “Chicken Fried.”
Thursday’s dress theme is US for the high school while for the elementary students it is Beach/Hawaiian Day. The song of the day is Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the USA.”
Friday’s dress up theme is frat for the high school while for the elementary students it is Blackout Day. The song of the day is Drake’s “Passionfruit.”
The week also features basketball tournaments during SOS.
