After a second-half comeback fell short in Randolph last Thursday, the B girls fell hard to visiting Wabasso a day later, 40-20.

Taking advantage of loads of Clipper turnovers, the Rabbits went in front 7-1. The Clipper point came from Natalie Flowers.

With Flowers assisting, Valentina Rohlfing scored from the baseline for the first Clipper basket from the floor. After the Rabbits put in a free throw, Hadley Thompson canned a three, but the Rabbits directly echoed it.

Cecelia Gair tossed an inbounds pass in for a basket. Gretchen Heldberg made a free throw and later cashed in on a Rohlfing steal and assist with a layup, but the Clippers trailed 16-11 at the intermission.

After Wabasso put in a freebie, Flowers scored from the floor, but the Rabbits posted the next 13 points for a 31-13 lead. Flowers interrupted the run with a layup, but the Rabbits went on another binge, this time for nine points.

Down the stretch, Rohlfing plunged a three and then stole and ran in a layup, but it was just a token effort by then.

With seven points, including a three, Rohlfing led the effort. Flowers added five pints. Thompson put in a three-point basket. Heldberg made a free shot and a basket for three points. Gair contributed two points.

The Clippers made two of their four foul shots. Wabasso was nine of 20 from the foul line and made three baskets from behind the arc.

Randolph 38, Cleveland 34

In Randolph, a second-half Clipper comeback fell short, and they lost 38-34 after trailing 18-11 at the break.

The Clippers had trouble hooking up early. Flowers bagged a three four and a half minutes into the contest, but the Rockets, taking advantage of the turnovers, went in front 12-3.

Brooke Bosse spun a Flowers assist in for a basket at the 4:53 mark. After, Flowers made a running jump shot, Rohlfing assisted a Bosse basket inside, and Flowers made another running jump shot before halftime.

The Clippers went on a 12-point run to start the second half. Allie Anderson parked a three, Heldberg scored after a Rohlfing steal, Rohlfing buried a three, and Anderson scored on a layup and an outside shot to propel the Clippers to a 23-18 advantage.

The Rockets put in a free shot to break up the run, but Thompson cashed in on a Rohlfing pass with a three to extend the Clipper lead.

But the Rockets posted 15 of the next 16 points with a Gair free basket splitting up the run.

With the Clippers now trailing 34-27, Rohlfing stole, missed her layup but grabbed the rebound and put it back up for a bucket, assisted a Kendra Schipper basket and made a free throw. After Randolph made a pair of free shots and a basket inside, Anderson scored the last basket of the game.

Anderson put in a trio of two-point baskets and a three, all in the second half to lead the Clippers. Flowers made a pair of two-point baskets and a three, all in the first half, for seven total points. Rohlfing had six points, including one three. Bosse had four points. Thompson contributed a three-point basket. Schipper and Heldberg each added two points. Gair put in a free basket.

The Clippers made two of five foul shots. The Rockets made one three and nine of 15 free throws.
