Sixth graders

Performed by the sixth graders, “Funga Alafia,” a traditional African greeting song will welcome attendees of today’s Elementary Spring Concert.

Funga alafia, ashay, ashay
Funga alafia, ashay, ashay
We've come to greet you, ashay, ashay
We've come to greet you, ashay, ashay

The song originates from countries like Nigeria, Liberia, and Ghana. The word “funga” means welcome while “alafia” means peace or well-being. “Ashay" means “so be it."

Also on stage will be the first and second graders, the fifth grade, the kindergarteners, Clipper Rising Voices and the third and fourth graders.

The groups are under the direction of music teacher Lacee Johnson.

Between sets, one of Erik Hermanson's jazz bands will perform.

The concert starts at 1:00 p.m.
