tball

The first week of t-ball is officially in the books, and the season is off to an exciting start. A total of 94 young athletes from Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade are participating this year, showcasing the continued growth and enthusiasm for youth baseball in our community.

The opening night featured a jamboree-style format designed to help players build fundamental skills in a fun and encouraging environment. Teams rotated through four stations that focused on key areas of the game, including base running, hitting, fielding, and throwing. The stations provided players with valuable instruction while allowing them to stay active and engaged throughout the evening.

Beginning next week, players will transition from skill development to game play as the regular season schedule gets underway.

The success of opening night would not have been possible without the many volunteers who generously gave their time. A special thank you goes out to the parents who helped organize and run the stations, creating a positive experience for all participants.

The program would also like to recognize four local high school students who volunteered their time and energy to assist with the jamboree: Kaitlynn Flowers, Bray Lassiter, Hadley Thompson, and Taylor Wolf. Their leadership, encouragement, and willingness to work with younger players helped make the evening a success.

Organizers would also like to extend sincere appreciation to the sponsors whose financial support helped launch the program. Thank you to Old National Bank, BankVista, Hometown Bank, Blethen Berens, Lake Boys, Schmidt Concrete, Latitude 44 Plumbing & Heating, and LJP Waste Solutions for investing in youth sports and helping provide opportunities for local children to learn, grow, and have fun.

A special shoutout also goes to Mankato Peppers for their generous donation of helmets and bats. Their contribution has helped ensure players have the equipment they need to enjoy a safe and successful season.

With a great first week complete and games set to begin next week, the future looks bright for this year's t-ball players. The program is grateful for the support of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners who continue to make youth sports possible for local families.
