Taking a pair from host New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday, the C girls won their season opener.
With game one deadlocked at 22, Addison Sandhurst delivered a pair of ace serves before Evangeline Pearson posted an ace block for the W.
With the Greyhounds erroring early in game two, the Clippers found themselves ahead 4-2 before Lily McMillen found an open slot on a backwards push. Rayna Williams tipped over an ace, and Sandhurst served up another pair of aces for a 9-4 Clipper advantage.
Capitalizing on a couple of Clipper errors followed by an ace push, an ace serve and an ace tip, Cathedral stalemated the game at 11, but the Clipper offense spurted for the next seven points.
With an ace serve, a kill and an ace tip, the Greyhounds hung around, but after Kylie Wobbrock sent over the last Clipper winner, the Greyhounds landed a serve out of bounds and crashed a hit into the net for a 25-18 Clipper triumph.
The C girls will try to make it two in a row when they host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton today (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m.
