Colin Krenik dribbled down court under pressure

Never trailing in Sherburn on Saturday, Lon Voss’s Clipper B basketball team defeated Martin County West 44-34 in the season opener.

Colin Krenik (above) led all players with 17 points.

Krenik’s three was the game’s first basket. After Jackson Meyer looped a couple of threes, the Clippers led 10-4. Brady Bostic’s three put the Clippers up 24-10, and with Krenik’s three at the buzzer, the Clippers went into the locker room up 32-17.

Taking advantage of three Clipper turnovers, the Maverick’s scored the first seven points of the second half before Kolby Gens dropped in a basket. Krenik swished another three, and Carter Barto grabbed his own rebound and scored twice to put the Clippers up 42-28.  Lucas Walechka rebounded and scored for the last Clipper basket.

Bostic scored nine points. Meyer had six points in one half played. Walechka added five points, Barto scored four points and Gens chipped in three points for the winners.

The Clippers return to action on Thursday when they host Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.
