Emma Treanor shooting

Perhaps because many of the Clippers trap shooters are accustomed to hunting in wet weather, Wednesday’s rain during their first competition shooting didn’t seem to be much bother, and the average score was up over four points from the reserve day a week earlier.

Of the 39 shooters, 26 improved their score.

Only off target three times, freshman Nick Simonette led the scoring. Freshman Cooper Arnold was right behind with a 46, and eighth grader Kaden Schmidt knocked down 45 clays.

Improving his score from last week four-fold, sixth grader Aiden Giese hit 20 targets while his classmate Gavin Marks jumped 14 points to a 26.

With a 44, senior Kolby Gens upped his score by 15 points from a week before while his classmate Riley Tomaszewski shot a 42.

Junior Martin Gibbs also shot a 42. Senior Jake Anderley broke up 41 targets. Jack Mertins and Cade Kriha, both also seniors, scored 40s. Sophomore Gabe Sullivan also hit 40 flying discs.

Seventh grader Tanner Simonette shot a 38. Freshman Riley Kriha shot a 37. Sophomore Derek Miler and freshman Reid Knish each scored a 36. Sophomore Adam Seeman and seventh grader Henry Boelter each hit 35 targets. Freshmen Chase Bock and Blake Gibbs, eighth grader Judd Gibbs and seventh grader Braeden Smith all shot 34s.

Connecting with 32 targets were eighth grader Mason Kluntz, seventh grader Zayden Linder, senior Emma Treanor (shooting above) and seventh grader Cole StockerDylan Zimmerman broke apart 31 clays as did seventh grader Aiden Domras.

Freshman Noah Hermel scored a 29. Sixth grader Brunson Gibbs shot a 27. Senior Jackson Meyer and freshman Kendra Zimmerman each shot a 25. Eighth grader Max Esser scored a 24 as did his classmate Nathan Seeman. Seventh grader Colton Tousley shot a 22, and sixth grader Jackson Kopp hit 21 clays.
