Kamryn Lindsay layup

Although they outscored visiting St. Clair in the second half, Chris Seely’s B-Squad girls fell 36-28 on Friday in their season opener.

Taking advantage of turnovers, the Cyclones scored the first 11 points. Kamryn Lindsay’s steal and layup at the 6:30 mark (above) finally halted the run.

Mollie Bowman put in the first of two foul shots and later in the half a three, but that’s all the scoring the Clippers could engineer, and they trailed 18-6 at the break.

Lacey McCabe entered in the second half and put in a dozen of the 22 points the Clippers would have, four more than St. Clair, but it wasn’t enough.

Bowman ended the night with eight points. Eighth grader Delaney Thompson had two baskets in the second half for four points. Taylor McCabe and Lindsay each added two points.

The Clippers missed nine of 14 free throws. St. Clair made five three pointers and was seven of 15 from the foul line.
