Bode Bartell layup

Host Mankato Loyola boomed over the C-squad boys 39-11 on Thursday.

Bode Bartell (above) and Mason Kluntz made baskets from the floor, and Kluntz put in the second of two foul shots for the only Clipper points in the first half. Cleveland trailed 18-5 at the break.

The Crusaders kept the pressure on early in the second half, gaining points after steals during a full-court press. Elijah Mons sunk a free-shot, and Bartell hit a layup and the and-one free shot, but Loyola still led 25-9.

A pair of Gavin Karels free throws was the only other points the Clippers could manage in the remainder of the second half, and the Crusaders strutted to the easy victory.

Bartell led the effort with five points. Kluntz added three points. Karels had two points, and Mons contributed one point.

The C boys return to the court on Monday when they take on visiting Butterfield-Odin.
