While they pulled within a point midway through the second half, the B girls fell

39-33 to host St. Clair on Tuesday.

Taylor McCabe (on the drive above) hit a three for the first Clipper points. She went on to have another basket from behind the arc in the half and two more in the second half.

Addi Holden also plopped in a three, but the Clippers trailed 19-18 at the break.

With a McCabe three and a Delaney Thompson free throw the Clippers were within a point, 25-24 midway through the second half, but the Cyclones widened the gap with a three.

Lacey McCabe took a Samantha Baker steal and assist up in in, but St. Clair scored a quick two and a three and then stole for another two to go up front 35-26.

Taylor McCabe canned another three, and Lacey McCabe scored twice, but it wasn’t enough. The Cyclones made five freebies down the stretch to hang on.

With 17 points, Taylor McCabe led all players. Lacey McCabe added eight points, all in the second half. Holden had five points. Thompson’s three points all came from the charity line.

The Clippers had five threes and made four of 10 free throws. St. Clair had a trio of threes and were 11 of 13 from the foul line.

In Lester Prairie on Monday, the B girls pulled out a 36-24 victory. They led 16-11 at the break.

Lacey McCabe scored 11 points, including a basket from behind the arc. Thompson had nine points. Olivia Reinhardt had a pair of threes and a bucket from the floor for eight points. Holden and Mollie Bowman each had four points.

The Clippers were five of 14 from the foul line. Lester Prairie made just a pair of 20 free-throw attempts.

The B girls host Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Friday.
